We have been made aware of the actions taken by a member of this local union. Those actions are not indicative of our policies or beliefs. We do not condone or promote those actions & Local 12 stands against racism and discrimination of any kind.
Since 1939, the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12 has stringently pursued open and non-discriminatory representation of its membership, a membership which includes every age, creed, color, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
To be clear, Local 12 does not employ the member in question. Nor does he hold elective office or serve in any manner as a representative within our organization. We are taking this situation seriously and sensitively to make sure we take the appropriate actions.
